Arizona Opera is adding an air of mystery — and culinary adventure — to its Sunday matinees.
The opera company is partnering with chef Gabriele Bertaccini, director of the invitation-only roving dining event Culinary Mischief, for an intimate “underground” culinary series, where diners are served a four-course Italian meal with wine pairings in the company of an Arizona Opera guest.
Diners will be told the dinner’s location when they make reservations, but the menu and guest are kept secret until after the matinee.
The first Arizona Opera Culinary Mischief dinner will be offered Oct. 14, after the Sunday matinee performance of “Lucia di Lammermoor.” The next, paired with “Roméo et Juliette,” is Nov. 18, with tickets becoming available around Oct. 10.
Tickets cost $110 and are sold separately from Arizona Opera tickets. Reservations can be made by calling (424) 644-4387 or emailing RSVP@iltoccofood.com.
