The 300-plus-member Phoenix Children’s Chorus will be heard nationally with the broadcast of their appearance on National Public Radio’s “From the Top.” One of the most popular weekly music series on public radio, the show reaches more than 700,000 listeners on 250 stations across the country.

The broadcast featuring the Phoenix Children’s Chours will air at 7 p.m. April 14 on 89.5 FM (KBAQ). The program was recorded at Mesa Arts Center and includes 17-year-old cellist Jangwoo “Peter” Eom, of Gilbert, performing “III. Allegro Molto Vivace” from the “Sonata for Solo Cello, Op. 8” by Zoltán Kodály.

Also on the program is a setting of a poem by Walt Whitman composed by a 17-year-old and performed by the Phoenix Children’s Chorus. The chorus also will sing the spiritual “Angels Watchin’ Over Me.”

A video clip from the show, which was recorded Feb. 19 in Mesa, is online at FromTheTop.org/radio/thisweek.
