Mesa’s shuttered Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre is back, reinvented as the Silver Star Playhouse.

A new sister theatre to the 25-year-old Desert Star Playhouse in Salt Lake City, the Silver Star’s grand opening is Nov. 29. Tickets are on sale now for its first show, “Nutcracker: Men in Tights.”

The Silver Star will feature original musical comedies and musical parodies of classic movies, TV shows and Broadway hits. Each production will be followed by a variety show called “The Olio,” giving ticketholders two shows in one.

Food is still part of the package, though it’s a less fussy menu than in Broadway Palm days. Pizzas, burgers and finger foods can be ordered at your table.

Childrens theatre programming is also in the works.

“Nutcracker: Men in Tights,” about small-town Arizonans who put on a wacky version of the classic Nutcracker story in an effort to save their town from financial disaster, will run Nov. 29 through Dec. 27.

For information and tickets, call (480) 325-6700. Silver Star Playhouse is in the former Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre building at 5247 E. Brown Road in Mesa.
