Halloween has barely passed, and Thanksgiving is still weeks away, but that’s not stopped stores from hawking ornaments, plastic trees and all other manner of Christmas wares.
Usher in the holiday season with an experience a little more substantive when world-famous figure skaters, headlined by Brian Boitano, Elvis Stojko and Kimmie Meissner, perform live to the sounds of Mannheim Steamroller, the No. 1 selling Christmas music group of all time. The band will be playing live, too.
Olympic champion Kristi Yamaguchi and three-time U.S. champion Michael Weiss will host the Nov. 10 show at Grand Canyon University Arena, along with Megan Hilty, of the NBC musical drama “Smash.”
Hilty will perform several numbers throughout the show, including “Silver Bells,” “O Holy Night,” and “The Christmas Song.”
NBC will tape the performance for national broadcast over Thanksgiving weekend. It will air at 4 p.m. Nov. 25 as the television special “PANDORA Unforgettable Holiday Moments on Ice.”
Other skaters to perform include reigning U.S. champion Ashley Wagner, 2011 U.S. champion Alissa Czisny and 2008 U.S. champion Mirai Nagasu, 2011 U.S. champion Ryan Bradley, Olympic bronze medalist Joannie Rochette and five-time U.S. champion ice dancers Naomi Lang and Peter Tchernyshev.
