On Jan. 25-26, the quaint copper mining town of Superior, an easy 30-minute drive east of Apache Junction, celebrates its sixth annual Home Tour, Antique Show and Art Show.

Throughout the weekend, sightseers are invited to take a self-guided tour of five renovated homes and one building. They can also attend a 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning lecture on Mattie Blaylock, Wyatt Earp’s companion buried in the nearby Pinal Cemetery, or hear his great grand-nephew, Wyatt Earp, discuss his renowned ancestor. Visitors can also browse an art show, watch Mata Ortiz potters construct their renowned ceramics, and shop from a variety of local antiques vendors at the historic Magma Club.

“Our old copper mining town has a little bit of everything for everyone,” says event coordinator Sue McKinney. “It is a town that is in the process of rebuilding, and it strives for all buildings to stay intact instead of being torn down.”

The City of Superior has teamed with the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and the Arizona Renaissance Festival to offer a two-for-one ticket special, giving each ticket holder, while supplies last, one ticket to the Arboretum and one to the Renaissance Festival.
