Six years after the release of his album “Live at Stubb’s,” Hasidic reggae/hip-hop/rock artist Matisyahu returns to the renowned Austin venue where his career took off on “Live at Stubb’s, Vol. II.” The singer and rapper gives an all-ages concert Wednesday in Tempe in support of the CD-DVD package.
Matisyahu — given name Matthew Miller — is already at work on two more albums, according to Billboard.com: “Akedah: Teaching to Love,” with his current touring band the Dub Trio, and a more hip-hop, Top 40-oriented album with producer Kool Kojak (who’s worked with Ke$ha, Flo Rida and Katy Perry).
He’s also got a movie role in the works; Matisyahu will appear with Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in “The Dibbuk Box,” opening in January 2012.
