The camera company Canon and film director Ron Howard are asking filmmakers of all skill levels to direct short films inspired by arresting photographs — including one taken by Theresa McManus of Gilbert.
McManus’ moody “Little Girl and the Storm” is one of 91 images selected to inspire filmmakers in the "Project Imaginat10n" film contest. Submissions must be uploaded by July 23 at imagination.usa.canon.com.
Helmed by Howard and his daughter Bryce Dallas Howard, the contest puts amateur filmmakers in the same class with five celebrity directors, including Eva Longoria and Jamie Foxx. The celebs are also creating films based on the images.
Five winning consumer films will be chosen by the Howards and a judging panel to premiere at the “Project Imaginat10n” Film Festival this fall along with the five celebrity movies. Each winner will receive $5,000.
