Arizona State University’s Pan Devils Steel Band entertains campus, public school and community audiences throughout the state. At a Dec. 11 coffee-and-concert event, you can hear them, too.
The band, composed of undergraduate and graduate students, brings the lilting sounds of the West Indies to its performances, showcasing the steel drum, or pan, an instrument originated in the islands.
Coffee service begins at 9:30 a.m., with the music program starting at 10 a.m., at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway. Both are free. For information, call (480) 350-2822 or visit Tempe.gov/tca.
