Two things we love in the Zajac house are baseball and our Golden Retriever. Case in point: The dog’s name is Wrigley, as in the field.

That’s why we’re feeling mighty tempted by the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Bark in the Park on Sunday, Aug. 26. It gives all us baseball-watching dog owners out there a chance to combine two of our favorite things.

People and their dogs are invited to Chase Field that day for a pre-game pup rally and parade of pups on the field’s warning track. Afterward, dogs and their owners can watch the game — against the San Diego Padres — together from the bleachers or Baseline Reserve seating sections.

Dogs must be at least 6 months old, and you must include a copy of current vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian when you register. Your dog must be licensed, too.

All participants are required to register in advance; no walk-ups will be permitted. Tickets can be picked up at the Bark in the Park check-in table at Gate J, under the Seventh Street bridge. That’s where fans bringing dogs to the game should enter Chase Field.

Another thing to love? Besides having a great time with our own dog, we’ll be showing other canines some love; $5 from every ticket goes to the Arizona Humane Society.

DETAILS >> Arrive by 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 to take part in on-field parade. Game begins at 1:10 p.m. Chase Field, 401 E. Jefferson St., Phoenix. $18 per person and $18 per dog to sit in the bleachers; $25 per person and $25 per dog to sit in the Baseline Reserve section. Water for dogs will be provided.
