Looking to appeal to more than the rodeo crowd and needing to bridge the gap between the parade and rodeo, this year’s Gilbert Days features the Red, White and Blues Festival.

Spread out across the Gilbert Civic Center Lawn, Saturday’s festival features four music acts on the main stage as well as four acts on the Western Town stage, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and running until 6:30 p.m.

The Gilbert Parks and Rec department put the event together to replace the traditional carnival, which was displaced due to downtown construction.

“We wanted something for the 10,000-plus who go to the parade to do until the rodeo starts,” said Denise Merdon, special events marketing and sponsorship coodinator for the Gilbert Parks and Rec department. “People are excited about it.”

In addition to the stage acts, the festival will feature attractions and games designed for all ages, vendors, food, beverage and sponsor booths.
