The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit mobile recording studio, and it’s rolling into Phoenix's Musical Instrument Museum. The bus, named after Beatle and music education enthusiast, John Lennon, is made possible by an agreement with Yoko Ono Lennon.

Three onboard engineers will guide museum guests on a tour through the bus while demonstrating the equipment and explaining its mission. The John Lennon bus travels the country to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in songwriting and multimedia production workshops.

After climbing aboard the bus, visitors will find an audio and HD-video recording and production facility equipped with the latest gear donated from Apple, Gibson Guitar, Sony, Montblanc and others.

The staff will assist students in learning how to write, perform, record and produce original songs, quality music videos and documentaries. The workshops will provide students with an experience that’s tailored to fit different levels of experience and interest.

An on-board satellite system allows the bus to produce live multi-camera video productions that are streamed directly to the web in real time. Every project that is created on the bus will be available to view on lennonbus.org, YouTube and Facebook.

Visitors can top their day off by dropping into the John Lennon exhibit, seeing the “Imagine” piano in MIM’s Artist Gallery. A Steinway piano will be available in the lobby for guests to try to play some of Lennon’s legendary songs.

The Desert Ridge Music Academy will be performing at MIM on the day of the event. Performances will include the music that they have produced on the Lennon bus to give visitors a look at the possibilities the bus provides.
