Occasionally, when my dog thinks we’re headed out for a walk, I do her a solid and turn it into a trip to the dog park instead. On Thursday, I can really blow her mind.
Tempe’s Mill Avenue is throwing a “Pre-Pilgrims’ Day Pooch Party” on Nov. 15. Hayden Square Amphitheatre will be transformed into a “pop-up pooch park” with a fenced play area, and merchants throughout the district will host pet-friendly patios, where dogs can hang out with their humans for dinner or drinks.
You’ll find a photo booth for snapping pictures with your dog, and Valley bands Ladylike and Yellow Minute — featuring members of popular local group What Laura Says — will perform live on stage.
Spike’s Treats, a Fountain Hills dog bakery, will sample and sell homemade dog goodies, and you can enter your pup in a Thanksgiving-themed costume contest. The prize is a basket full of treats and toys.
Lost Our Home Pet Foundation, Lost Paws Sterilization Education & Rescue, AZ Pyrs Association, English Springer Spaniel Rescue America, and the Arizona Humane Society will offer on-site animal adoptions.
You can come with or without pets. It’s all free of charge.
