Planning to see Disney’s “Planes”? Then you might consider making a day of it with Aviation Day at FlipSide.

The Gilbert family fun center, whose owner is a flight instructor, is ushering in the animated kids’ movie with a giant party 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10. The event also ties in National Aviation Day and National Bowling Day.

Children who attend will get to play unlimited Laser Tag, Blast Pad, Crash Pods, Mini Bowling, Laser Maze and arcade games. They’ll also bowl with pilots, assemble airplane crafts, and munch on snacks and a pizza lunch. Presenters from the aviation industry will give presentations, and kids will get goody bags filled with aviation-related freebies. The day ends with a 2:15 p.m. private screening of “Planes” at the nearby Harkins Crossroads Theatre.

The event is limited to 600 participants. Registration is required in advance, and registration closes Aug. 7.

Tickets are $40 per child and include all activities, food and a movie ticket. Parent/chaperone tickets are $15 and include the morning snack, pizza lunch and movie ticket. Parents or chaperones must provide transportation from FlipSide to the theater.
