Father-and-son brewers Pete and Greg Rendek, of Chandler, have crafted a variety of at-home ales, porters, weissbiers, and even a prickly pear IPA over the years.
Now, they’re teaching others how to brew beer at home.
The Rendeks will show how to make a 5-gallon batch of “holiday vanilla” porter in a workshop slated for noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. The recipe uses native mesquite flour.
“This workshop’s designed for anyone who has been wanting to take the plunge and begin brewing your own beer. We’ll have basic equipment on hand and will give a discussion of ingredients as well as different brewing styles, techniques and the equipment needed to get started,” said Pete in a statement.
