A Mesa comedy house is giving locals a chance to whip their funny bones into shape with Kevin McDonald of the late ’80s/early ’90s sketch comedy show “Kids in the Hall.”
McDonald will present a 12-hour workshop Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at National Comedy Theatre in Mesa, where participants will work on improv, acting and writing skills.
The workshop will warm up with improv games, and students will progress to doing their own improvised scenes in small groups. McDonald will go from group to group to provide guidance, and the workshop will end with the groups performing fully written, polished scenes.
The cost is $300, and space is limited. To register, call (602) 374-5638 or email email@example.com.
McDonald will give a stand up and improv show 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the theater. Tickets are $20.
