A day at the races isn’t just a good time; on March 2, it’s also a huge help to Mesa’s Child Crisis Center.

Turf Paradise, the horse racing track at Bell Road and 15th Avenue in Phoenix, will host its third Wine, Women and Horses luncheon that day, and proceeds will go to the center, which provides an emergency shelter for children, training and support for foster and adoptive families, and education, intervention and counseling for families.

The event, which runs from noon to 4 p.m., features lunch, goody bags, raffle prizes, a fancy hat contest and, of course, live horse racing. Tickets, $65 each, are on sale now.

Last year’s Wine, Women and Horses raised more than $30,000 for Child Crisis Center.
