Here’s a novel approach to keep all those academic-year brain cells from jumping ship over summer vacation — and there’s a chance students won’t balk.

The Science of Ice Cream Social, kids ages 10-16, will bring together a bevy of scientists and a good amount of liquid nitrogen Tuesday, July 2, in Mesa.

The event is part of the STEM Student Science Cafe, or S3C, series, a casual meet-up the first Tuesday of each month where students can get in on an engaging conversation with a scientist. Each session features a new topic.

The ice cream social will feature a demonstration with liquid nitrogen, and past Science Cafe presenters (ahem, scientists) will be in attendance. It’s at 6:30 p.m. at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, 1056 S. Country Club Drive. There is no charge.

The event is presented in association with the Arizona SciTech Festival. For information, call (602) 740-4012 or visit ScienceArizona.org.
