Christmas is a time for keeping long-standing family traditions. The Zoppé Family has been keeping theirs for almost 200 years.
Unlike other Christmas traditions, theirs involves staging an old-world traveling circus. Started in 1842 by Napoleone and Ermengilda Zoppé near Venice, Italy, Zoppé — An Italian Family Circus continues seven generations later. They perform this week in Chandler, where you’ll see acrobats, equestrians, canines and clowns put on a show suited for all ages.
This one-ring show is not the typical flashy circus performance. All audience member are within 20 feet of the ring, the costumes are handmade and you’ll even see a few dancing dogs, creating a winsome experience all of us could use more of. The show runs through Jan. 5.
