Sure, you know to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, but how well-versed are you in the history and culture of Ireland?

“Experience Ireland” March 16-17 at The Musical Instrument Museum. The event, which is included with paid regular admission, celebrates the Emerald Isle with Irish craft tutorials, talks on Irish musical culture, and Irish foods available for purchase, including stout lamb stew with potatoes, roasted salmon marinated in Irish whiskey and honey, corned beef and cabbage soup, and an Irish julep — the weekend’s signature cocktail.

The celebration also includes traditional Irish dance performances and instruction on Saturday and Celtic and Welsh music by John Good on Sunday.

Altan, one of Ireland’s premiere musical groups, will give concerts at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday. Those are ticketed events taking place in the museum’s theater.

The MIM is at 4725 E. Mayo Blvd. in Phoenix. For information, call (480) 478-6000 or visit MIM.org.
