Q: What’s one of your favorite places to eat out?

A: Alessia’s Ristorante Italiano (in Mesa). Jon, the owner, used to work for me. I’ve been going since it opened. Jon actually worked here a couple years while he and his wife were getting Alessia’s off the ground.

Q: Red, White & Brew has some Italian-influenced dishes on the menu. What can you get at Alessia’s that you can’t at your own restaurant?

A: I can relax! Really, it’s great food, it really is. It’s northern Italian cooking, and it’s just excellent. Shari, Jon’s wife, does the cooking, and it’s unique; it’s not your typical southern Italian restaurant where everything has red sauce on it.

Q: What are some of your favorite things to order when you’re there?

A: Any of the sauteed chicken dishes and the mushroom bruschetta (crostini al porcini).
