With another Arizona summer creeping up on us, we need some cool, refreshing, happy thoughts to carry us through ’til kinder, double-digit temperatures return. The second annual Gelato Wars, coming up in August, is just the thing.

The event pits ten of the Valley’s hippest chefs against each other to see who can create the best gelato flavor — and you get to be the judge.

From August 1 to 31, the Gelato Spots on Camelback, Greenway and Scottsdale roads will offer 10 unique flavors, concocted by chefs like Keenan Bosworth from Pig & Pickle, Gio Osso of Virtu, and Matt Carter of the Mission & Zinc Bistro.

The flavor that sells the most wins, so go forth, eat lots of gelato, and in doing so, you’ll not only give a proud chef a dollop of bragging rights and $500 cash — you’ll help Make-A-Wish Arizona, which will receive a $5,000 check in honor of the winning chef.
