Thinking of getting flowers for that special someone? How about cupcakes instead? This local shop makes “rose” bouquets out of cupcakes. For $29.95, a bouquet includes seven red- or pink-frosted cupcakes nestled in a white vase. A mixed bouquet of red and pink cupcakes is $2 more. Cupcake flavors come in chocolate, red velvet or champagne. Bouquets will be ready for pick up Feb. 13 and 14. They can be delivered, in the East Valley only, on Valentine’s Day for $10.

This Gilbert chocolatier uses Belgian and French chocolate to create espresso/Kahlua, wild cherry-brandy, orange, mint, lemon and merlot truffles, as well as pecan, whiskey and salt caramels. But if you want to bring out the big guns for V-Day, consider a solid chocolate flower ($15 each) or high-heeled shoe ($45). Flowers can be ordered to mimic roses, irises, daffodils or other varieties. Shoes, which measure up to about a size 5 real shoe, come in milk or dark chocolate and can be custom decorated. Orders can be delivered, picked up or shipped.

Moist balls of cake are speared on a lollipop stick and covered with cream cheese frosting, dipped in dark chocolate, then drizzled with white and dark chocolate at this bakery, which earned New Times’ 2011 Best Cupcake in Phoenix award. Cake pops are $21.99 for a dozen, $11.99 for half a dozen, or $2.29 a piece. The bakers also make whoopee pies, cupcakes and mini cakes.
