LOS ANGELES - Her ankle-twisting antics in "Misery" earned her an Oscar. Now Kathy Bates is being recognized for her 35-year career in entertainment with the Mary Pickford Award.
The International Press Academy will present Bates with its highest honor at the 12th annual Satellite Awards dinner Dec. 16 in Beverly Hills.
Bates, 59, demonstrates "complete and total dedication to the roles she has chosen," IPA President Mirjana Van Blaricom said in a statement Wednesday. "She embodies a genuine reflection of the best performers who have made the entertainment industry what it is today."
Previous recipients include Martin Landau, Jodie Foster, Francis Ford Coppola, Susan Sarandon, Gena Rowlands and Karl Malden.
