One of last season’s most popular new TV shows is having a trickle-down effect on how some East Valley youngsters will spend their spring break.
A day camp modeled after the Fox musical sitcom “Glee” will debut at Chandler Center for the Arts in March. Led by vocal coach Kristen Drathman and choreographer Heather Langham, the camp will teach kids to sing Broadway songs, step in time and put the whole thing together in a culminating public performance at the end of the week.
The camp is open to children 8 and older; it will be held 9 a.m. to noon March 15-19 at the center.
Drathman, a Phoenix actor, singer, teacher and concert performer, has performed all over the world and taught students who later performed on Broadway and “American Idol’s” national concert tours.
Langham, an ASU graduate, is a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. She has dance choreography credits from several universities, and she has performed in “Cabaret,” “A Chorus Line” and “West Side Story.”
The camp is presented by Chandler Center for the Arts and the Chandler Young Actors Group. The enrollment fee is $150 per student, and space is limited. To register, call (480) 782-2682 or send an email to email@example.com.
