The much-buzzed-about gourmet food trucks that seem to orbit mostly around Phoenix will inch eastward this weekend for the Street Eats Food Truck Festival, hosted by Food Network chef Tyler Florence.

More than 20 rolling kitchens will set up shop at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, offering everything from hot dogs, pizza, burgers, barbecue and fry bread to lobster, crab cakes, shrimp po boys and jambalaya wrapped in a burrito.

Each truck will offer sample- and full-size portions of their most popular menu items in exchange for $2 food tickets.

Super Farm Super Truck and Udder Delights, of Mesa dairy Superstition Farm, are among the participating vendors.

Aside from the food, you’ll find cooking demonstrations, tailgating games, an all-day Happy Hour zone with adult beverages and activities for youngsters.

It all happens on the same day tickets go on sale for Major League Baseball 2012 spring training — and Salt River Fields is training home to the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. Anyone who buys a spring training ticket at the box office gets in free to Street Eats.

Details >> 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, 7555 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale. $10 admission. Food tickets are $2 each. (480) 270-5000 or www.saltriverfields.com

Having grown up in NYC I have always been a fan of food trucks, but did you ever wonder where they clean their hands?

Hey... There's even more to this event: There's going to be live music bands performing throughout the day, too. For 1 example: 'Kenny Love & The Rockerfellers' will be playing its brand of 'Americana' & 'Roots Rock & Roll' music, from 12:30pm - 2:00pm.
