From the moment they step out of the glaring sun and into the dark shade of its cool concrete corridors, kids can dig the ASU Art Museum. With fountains, a staircase leading up its backside, and a generally cave-like feel, just exploring the exterior of the pink-gray structure can feel like an adventure.
But Saturday most of the fun will lie within the building’s air-conditioned, underground core. Family Fun Day will welcome children of all ages to make their own bolo tie, watch performances by the Great Arizona Puppet Theater, dance with Zumbatomics, and visit with PBS characters Maya and Miguel.
Families can also scope out the art, including “Collecting Arizona,” the museum’s summer tribute to Arizona’s Centennial. The exhibition features a wide range of artwork about our state.
Parking is free at the Ceramics Research Center (ASU Lot 16), which is just across Tenth Street on the northeast corner of Mill Avenue and Tenth.
