Minnesota-based Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que opens its second East Valley restaurant Monday at Mesa Riverview.

The new location, next to Bass Pro Outdoor World, will celebrate with a “Passing the Fire” ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

The tradition, which honors founder Dave Anderson’s American Indian heritage, transfers a flame to each new Famous Dave’s from the previously opened location.

Besides award-winning barbecue, Famous Dave’s — which also has a restaurant at Chandler Fashion Center — offers burgers, sandwiches and salads.
