If you've never made the trek over to Phoenix's 1929 landmark Arizona Biltmore, this might be the summer to finally check out the luxury property.
The resort - a magnet in its heyday for old-Hollywood celebs like Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable - is making it affordable for locals to indulge in a bit of its legendary cachet with "Hollywood & Wine," a new summer-long series of events that debuts this weekend with live performances by actor Kevin Bacon and his brother, Michael.
The Bacon Brothers, the actor's folk and blues music duo, will take the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $15. Cash bars and concessions will be available during the concerts for additional cost.
Other Hollywood & Wine events will include appearances by industry pros, movie screenings, plays and celebrity-label wine tastings.
In June, the resort will host live productions of William Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors" and Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit," produced by professional Mesa theatre troupe Southwest Shakespeare Company. Tickets are $30 per show or $50 for both. Packages are available that bundle tickets with dinners at on-site restaurants Frank & Albert's or Wright's at The Biltmore.
