When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things to do was to play dress-up: I would spend hours in my mom’s closet, dressing up and chatting with what I imagined was a room full of people. My mom said sometimes she would forget I was even home.

I know today’s little girls aren’t any different — it’s a gene we all have. So call your favorite girlfriends and take them to lunch at Tessa’s Tea & Treasures, a quaint little place perfect for a girlfriends’ afternoon of high tea or lunch.

And the best part is you can play dress-up! Owner Patti Tzineff provides the hats, the gloves and the jewelry. (Well, it’s really for little girls.)

Tzineff provides the ultimate ladylike setting with her Victorian decor of roses and lace. Besides serving high tea she has a wonderful menu of sandwiches, scones and quiche.

After lunch you can wander next door to Xavier Square antique shop. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend the afternoon with the girls: Food and shopping!

Tessa’s Tea & Treasure, 4700 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix, is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday; you can reserve Sundays for private parties. Information: (602) 234-3422 or www.tessastea.com.

On the next "On the Go with Terri O" at 11 a.m. Saturday on KTVK-TV (Channel 3): Did you know that half of all women will develop osteoporosis? I have some easy and delicious recipes that will help your bones. Also, before-and-after views of backyard makeovers by Roger Runyon at CDC Pools.
