Hailed as one of the great voices of contemporary literature, Maya Angelou is a poet and author who’s achieved household-name status.

She appears Sunday in the East Valley as part of “Unique Lives & Experiences,” a lecture series in which distinguished speakers, such as Diane Keaton, Laura Bush and Joan Rivers, share their memorable life lessons with audiences.

A question-and-answer period follows Angelou’s talk, and the cast of “Broadway in the Hood” makes a special appearance.
