Gilbert’s Elektrolytes, the newly declared winners of Season 7 of “Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew” on MTV, will appear in their first hometown performance since winning the televised competition earlier this month.

The show is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Higley Center for the Performing Arts, 4132 E. Pecos Road, Gilbert.

The dance team — made up of Gilbertians Sal Banuelos, 24, Benjamin Barnett, 21, Chris Thomas, 26, Nico Banuelos, 21, Kyle James Price, 20, Marcus “TK” Jones, 16, George Jones, 21, and Jose “Joey” Arevalo, 27 — got their start when the Banuelos brothers were students at Higley High School.

“Most of us knew each other from high school, so my brother Sal started the crew. We came up with the name Elektrolytes because dance fuels our body and we fuel the dance stage,” said Nico Banuelos in a May interview with the Tribune.

He said audiences can expect a high-octane performance.

“We are all about high energy, in your face, non-stop action. We do different flips, tricks and crazy dance moves.”

The group beat female dance team 8 Flavahz on the MTV show’s season finale, which featured pop singer Katy Perry. The competition started with ten hip-hop crews from around the world. Each week, the dancers created and performed routines inspired by the music of artists like Madonna, Britney Spears and Flo Rida. Viewers choose their favorites via text, phone-in and online voting.

The group received a $100,000 grand prize for the MTV win.

In 2011, the Elektrolytes placed first in Hip Hop International’s USA Hip Hop Dance Championship and ranked seventh in the world.

Tickets for Saturday’s show are $20. VIP tickets, which include premium seating, a meet and greet after the show, and an autographed poster are $30.
