A Tucson woman has been crowned the new Miss Arizona.

Erin Nurss was announced the winner at the pageant Saturday night at Gilbert High School.

She received the crown from last year's winner, Nicole Turner of Phoenix. She will represent Arizona at the Miss America pageant in 2009.

Sixteen contestants from throughout the state vied for the title. This year marked the pageant's 70th anniversary.
