There’s that ring your grandmother wore. The outfit you had on the day you met your soulmate. The shoes that stuck fast in the mud when you and two friends made a break for it across a soggy patch of ground.
Clothes and accessories — and the memories they trigger — are the starting points for funny, often poignant stories in “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” opening Tuesday in Scottsdale.
The hit play by acclaimed author and screenwriter Nora Ephron (“When Harry Met Sally,” “You’ve Got Mail,” “Sleepless in Seattle” and “Julie & Julia”) makes its Arizona premiere with stars Loretta Swit (“M*A*S*H”), Emily Dorsch (“Gossip Girl”), Daisy Eagan (“Losing Isaiah”), Sonia Manzano (“Sesame Street”) and Myra Lucretia Taylor (Broadway’s “Nine” and “Wicked”).
The show, opened in 2009 in New York City, was honored with a 2010 Drama Desk Award and a Broadway.com Audience Award. It’s been produced in more than eight countries and is performed by a rotating cast of five actresses; casts have included Samantha Bee, Kristin Chenoweth, Tyne Daly, Fran Drescher, Janeane Garofalo, Jane Lynch, Rhea Perlman, Doris Roberts, Brooke Shields and Rita Wilson, among others.
