When Valley TV personality Terri Ouellette returns to the airwaves Saturday, viewers who’ve come to associate her with "you can make this at home!" will get a bit of a shock.
Ouellette, best known as "Terri O" through her years on "Good Morning Arizona" on KTVK-TV (Channel 3), said her new half-hour show is "all hands-on," but features very few crafts.
"I think people are always expecting me to break out the glue gun, when in fact there’s so much more to what’s important to me every day than just creating," she said.
"On the Go With Terri O" instead looks at everything from kayaking to dashboard dining — things for people who are busy "and trying to get life stuff out of the way and handled as quickly as possible," Ouellette said. "I’m like everybody else: Busy family, busy career, limited expendable income — I want the most for my time and money out of everything I do."
So her show has "everything that has to do with everyday life and trying to condense it into quick, useful tips and throw in a little bit of fun," she said.
That fun comes from the behind-the-scenes footage incorporated into the show, Ouellette said.
"I’m a real person, and I make mistakes," she said. "They’re still there — we just shoot and go. The show is very real. You see everything that happened before the segment starts and after it’s over — you see how the show comes together, instead of, ‘Voila! Here we are in Show Low!’ " It’s not just a magic button you press."
