Tempe’s Four Peaks Brewery scored two gold medals and a bronze medal at the 2012 World Beer Cup against competition from 799 breweries from 54 countries. Four Peaks was the only Arizona brewery honored.
Among the major wins for the East Valley brewery were gold medals for Hopknot, an American IPA blend made with seven hops, and Sunbru Kolsch, a malty, sweet brew that beat out entrants from Cologne, Germany - the city where Kolsch originates.
“Scoring big at the World Beer Cup is not only a tremendous honor, but a great platform to let the rest of the world in on what Four Peaks fans already know – that what’s brewing in Tempe is on par with the very best beer-producing cities in the world,” said Four Peaks co-owner Andy Ingram.
The brewery’s 8th Street Ale, an English-style brew, took home the bronze medal at the Cup.
Four Peaks Brewery, at 1340 E. Eighth St., is Arizona’s largest local craft brewer, with beers available at its Tempe pub and eatery and in stores, bars and restaurants throughout the region.
