Proposed Arizona legislation could give parents the power to challenge the status of a failing school -- including even having enough influence to have the school shut down.

"PUBLIC" EDUCATION....is the operative word....PUBLIC.
Like most of the Columnists that appear in this newspaper, the fact that we live in a "Democracy" escapes them. Democracy means the "will of the People, the "Public".
In a "Democracy"....50% + 1 = the Majority.
Old Glory is still Red, White and Blue. The "all" Red Flag of Socialism or Communism does not fly over the Capital Building...no matter how hard Obama and the Democrats have tried to pull it down.

Comrade the cold war has long been over. As always your ranting does not make sense and your choice of isms is antiquated. The United States is governed by a Republican form of government which is not a democracy. The Constitution governs our system of laws and in fact it was created to protect the entire society from mob rule, i.e. the majority. James Madison and Alexander Hamilton in the Federalist Papers warned us about the failures of democracy.

We actually live in a Republic. We choose the people to represent us.

Representative democracy is a variety of democracy founded on the principle of elected people representing a group of people. That is the form of democracy we have in America. Majority rules. asuaquila? Are you an actual college student who doesn't know that America is a democratic country? Why doesn't that surprise me that you don't know the US Constitution. The Cold War (approx. 1945–1991) was a continuing state of political and military tension between the powers of the Western world, led by the United States and its NATO allies, and the communist world, led by the Soviet Union, its satellite states and allies. That has very little to do with the infiltration of America's foundations by socialists. Destruction from within is their goal. The Obamanation is their leader. This infiltration is directly responsible for your ignorance of these facts.
