Fructose is indeed a bad actor in our diet, and unfortunately one that shows up everywhere, all the time. Fructose, unlike glucose, can only be metabolized in the liver. We were never meant to eat nearly as much fructose as the modern diet provides, and this is leading to obesity, diabetes and other disorders. I sincerely hope both the author can not only gain control of her condition, but also that fructose and HFCS become much less prevalent in processed foods.
