Two hospitals under Banner's auspices will host two different and free events tailored toward breast cancer survivors this October.
The first, which is on Oct. 9, is a seminar to provide clinical research and symptom management for breast cancer survivors, as well as an overview from an oncologist to explain the special needs of a breast cancer survivor. The event runs from 6 and 7:30 p.m. at Banner Gateway Medical Center's Grand Canyon Conference rooms, located at 1900 N. Higley Road in Gilbert, and people can register by calling (602) 230-2273.
The second event is a six-week course offering weight-loss tools for breast cancer survivors that begins on Oct. 16 at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. The courses will feature a registered dietitian and an exercise physiologist to provide weight management or weight loss strategies, as well as lifestyle recommendations to lower the risk of breast cancer reoccurrence.
Classes will take place between 3 and 4 p.m. every Wednesday starting Oct. 16 at 2946 E. Banner Gateway Drive in Gilbert. People can register by calling (480) 256-4141.
