Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport expects about 150,000 passengers Wednesday and Sunday as they travel to see friends and family for the holiday.
In a sign of a slowly recovering economy, that’s about a 30 percent jump from holiday travelers last year at this time. On a normal day, the airport sees about 100,000 passengers.
“We always have additional staff for busy days, whether it's bowl games or holidays. We will have additional people in the terminals and on the roads,” said spokeswoman Deborah Ostreicher.
A free shuttle to the airport is available from the light-rail stop at 44th and Washington streets. Drivers can find a coupon for $15 daily parking in the airport garages at www.skyharbor.com. Information can also be found by calling (602) 273-4545.
