SHOW LOW, Ariz. (AP) — The forests of eastern Arizona are under a red flag fire warning Friday. The National Weather Service says the warning covers the Show Low Fire District and the White Mountains of northeast Arizona.
Residents and visitors are prohibited from open burning when a red flag warning exist.
Forecasters issue red flag warnings when strong winds and low relative humidity cause an increased potential for large and rapid fire growth.
Meanwhile, the weather service has issued a red flag warning for the Williams and Tusayan (TOO'-say-ohn) districts on the Kaibab (KEYE'-bab) National Forest in northern Arizona for Friday due to gusty winds and low humidity.
