AAA Arizona’s annual Thanksgiving travel forecast reveals that travel is on the rise for the fourth consecutive holiday this year.
The report says 854,000 Arizonans are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home next weekend, representing an 11 percent jump over last year’s figure. “While consumers remain cautious with budgets and discretionary spending, many are in a better financial position this Thanksgiving than a year ago,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “This improvement, along with a strong desire to spend time with friends and family, is expected to propel an increase in Thanksgiving travel.”
The rise comes despite a slight rise in travel costs over last year and persistent increases in fuel costs throughout the year.
