Actually, I pray every day that the Republican Party does run Brewer for Governor again. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO The Republican Party needs another resounding defeat.
Ballot measure in 1992: Arizona Constitution says about term limits, in Article 5, Section 1; “No member of the executive department after serving the maximum number of terms, which shall include any part of a term served, may serve in the same office until out of office for no less than one full term.”
Jan Brewer was secretary of state in 2009 when Gov. Janet Napolitano quit, as Arizona governor, to become U.S. Homeland Security Chief in the Obama administration. Governor Jan Brewer was then re-elected the year after that – in 2010.
The courts will likely determine whether Gov. Brewer is eligible to run again.
Accuracy, what is so hard for Republicans to understand about these words " which shall include any part of a term served. "? She served part of a term which very clearly is spelled out to be the same as having served a full term. The Constitution does not talk about number of years served. That is irrelevant. There is no need for the Courts to be involved at all and if the Republicans go to court trying to fight the Constitution it is grounds enough to vote against her if she runs.

Thanks Accuracy and Willie for the facts. Brewer is not elligible to run again now, but must sit it out for a cycle. I suppose she could run for Secretary of State. BUT
Haven't we Arizonans had enough? I mean, Mecham, Simon, Brewer! Like Nepolitano, it should be a shoe in for the Democrat nominee! Besides being connected, what does she have going for her? Definately not smarts! Sarah Palin is smarter.
Republicans castigate people who draw government benefits but, after looking at this poll it is obvious that a great chunk of the population of Arizona certainly needs to attend more adult classes. 30% clicked the button that says she didn't serve two terms despite the fact Accuracy posted the relevant section of the law that says in very plain English that serving part of a term counts the same as having served a full term. It appears there is a very large IQ deficit in Arizona. No wonder Republicans have been winning so many elections here.
People like her are the problem, the republican party needs to figure out if they are going to be builders or haters. Telling the truth would be a good start. The hate in the party stems from the religious right. When I say building that doesn't mean building from the roof down it's it means from the foundation up. It's we the people not we the religious.

What's wrong with allowing Brewer to serve four more years? What's wrong with allowing Arpaio another four years? Arizona is the state of Ev Mecham, Fife Symington, Jan Brewer and Joe Arpaio. We deserve who we elect. Let's give them another 40 years in office! Just maybe the other 49 states will ceceed from us!
