Oh no, here we go again. Arizona Republicans will be asked again this year to “hold our noses” and vote for another “centrist, compassionate” (could that possibly mean R.I.N.O.) Republican. The last time it was for Mitt “Hundreds of Millions of Family Trust Fund Dollars squirrel-awayed in so-called ‘off-shore Caribbean Island Nations’ Romney.”
This time it will be for Mesa Mayor Scott Smith for Arizona Governor. The very same Mayor Smith who gave us Mesa Police Department Chief of Police, George “Jorge” Gascon. We all saw what that got us; “Sanctuary City” status along with the ultra-liberal, Democrat cities of Tucson and Flagstaff. The “Welcome Mat” was out for every illegal alien crossing the U.S. border in the dead of night carrying a 40-pound backpack stuffed with marijuana, meth, cocaine, or even black-tar heroin to pay off the smugglers. This was at the height of the East Mesa home building surge and the new developments needed cheap, under-the-table-paid-in-cash nail pounders. It didn’t matter that Mesa’s schools were overwhelmed, burglaries, assaults and car theft statistics sky-rocketed ... home builders had a cheap labor force. Sanctuary City Status, Multi-Million Dollar Bond Obligations — $100 million for the Riverview Cubs Stadium for 3- to 4-month long Spring Training games, another $25 million to refurbish Falcon Field, and yet another $15 million to “gentrify” Fiesta Mall, which, by the way, just had its Macy’s department store close. Oh well, Sears is still at Fiesta Mall — are our good Mayor Scott Smith’s legacy.
Looking forward to Governor Smith’s Election — if the Mormon Church, the Arizona Republic, KAET’S “Horizon” and “Horizonte” TV news programs, Hispanic/La Raza activists, Democrat Party crossovers and as many Catholic voters that Bishop Olmsted can sway — have anything to do with the 2014 Arizona Election. We will immediately see the “Utah (aka..Mormon) Compact” replacing SB 1070, giving a “non-finger pointing” welcome to President Barack Hussein Obama when he visits our fair state and our border becoming an “open door” for the whole population of Northern Mexico. The “welcome mat” is out. Bienvenidos a Arizona!
