An Arizona sheriff facing a lawsuit by Latinos who claim they were racially profiled by his department is trying to revive the old controversy over President Barack Obama's birth certificate.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said at a news conference Tuesday that investigators working for him have concluded the document is not legitimate. Arizona's Democratic Party immediately insisted Arpaio was trying to draw attention away from problems within his own agency.
A civil trial is set to begin Thursday in a lawsuit that accuses Arpaio's office of racially profiling Latinos. The suit is a precursor to a U.S. Justice Department lawsuit that alleges a broader range of civil rights violations against Arpaio's office.
So-called "birthers" maintain Obama is ineligible to be president because, they contend, he was born in Kenya. However, Hawaii officials have repeatedly verified Obama's citizenship, and courts have rebuffed lawsuits over the issue.
"President Obama was born in Honolulu, and his birth certificate is valid," Joshua A. Wisch, a special assistant to Hawaii's attorney general, said in a statement. "Regarding the latest allegations from a sheriff in Arizona, they are untrue, misinformed, and misconstrue Hawaii law."
Obama's campaign declined to comment.

The guy speaks fluent Farsi, thinks the Moslem call to prayer "is one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset," bows and apologizes to all of America's enemies and talks about ordinary Americans "clinging to their guns and bibles" with obvious disdain, and you want to know why we want to know who the f**k this guy is?

There are several serious issues with this supposedly legitimate birth certificate. All Americans must learn the truth, whether it's deemed legitimate or a forgery...we owe it to ourselves and our country. Let the investigation continue until there is a valid answer that leaves no doubt in anyone's mind.

The Republican Party would be very happy to pay anyone who can provide proof that will stand up in court, that Obama is not legal, $5,000,000.
I have been a supporater of Arpaio because of his stance on invading aliens -- but I'm afraid this is too much.
Joe should be fired.
He sent someone clear to Hawaii and they didn't even see the original documents.
What they are showing are PDF files which were furnished by ultra right wing websites and have been proven to be faked by those ultra right wingers.
Of course they were doctored. The right wingers did it.
Citing those PDF files is way over the top and Joe should ( must? ) know better.
Anyway. I can no longer support Joe Arpaio.
Sorry Joe ... but you're a liar.

Besides the fact that the two lead "investigators" of the "cold case posse" have no forensics experience at all, besides the fact that both are making money off of this little farce, besides the fact that despite the Sheriff's assurances that the "investigation" would cost taxpayers nothing (when in fact it's cost us $10,000), despite the fact that one of the lead investigators has a grand total of five years of police experience and the other is a well-known conspiracy theorist, it's all good.
Yep, we're supposed to believe that the posse's interview with a 95-year-old woman who might have had some involvement with the birth certificate 51 years ago is a sterling witness (even though Arpaio "might" release the tape of the interview his posse had with the lady).
This is just another dog whistle for two audiences: the yahoos who believe that "Sheriff Joe" enforces "all the laws all the time" (except for the over 400 sexual assault cases the MCSO didn't investigate) and the folks who hate Obama.
In other words, worthless. Except it got Joe on TV once more. Which apparently is what he desires, even more than to investigate those 400 cases.

Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse critical investigation of Barack Hussein Obama’s undoubtedly fraudulent birth certificate finds an imminent threat to national security and U.S. immigration laws. The threat is posed by a flaw in Hawaii’s law (discovered by his investigators) that allows a foreigner to obtain a Hawaii birth certificate.
The brave Sheriff Joe has demonstrated real courage in releasing this investigation and this information . . . And the Obama campaign has declined to comment on the investigation.

In the private sector this guy would have been shoved into retirement a decade ago. I'm not for age discrimination but surely Wal-Mart has a nice part time greeter position for him!
I'm beginning to understand why the right likes to complain about waste so much.

Whenever I read an article about the Sheriff I close my eyes and picture him in a nursing home, ranting and raving. 'Nuff said!

If the good Sheriff wasn't wasting our money on this, it would be humorous. I would recommend to both DeeD and (In)Accuracy that they get off the birther blogs and do some independent research. Every single piece of evidence that the birthers have thrown out has been disproven. This is why so many, including the far right have dismissed these claims.
(In)Accuracy, there is no law in Hawaii that allows a foreigner to receive a birth certificate. You may be confusing this with the claim by Mike Zullo that the Mafia was selling birth certificates to Japanese businessmen in Hawaii at the time. Yet, Zullo provided no proof that this was happening and also failed to explain how a phony birth record sold by the Mafia could have been entered into the vital records at the Department of Health.
The sad thing is that the birthers keep getting strung along like the sheep that they are. They can be fed any piece of garbage as long as it supports the hatred for the President of the United States. These people call themselves patriots, but their contempt and hatred for the President shows that they place their partisanship far ahead of their Country.
