The American Civil Liberties Union has appointed a panel to gather community concerns about the policies of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his agency.

The ACLU announced Thursday that it has tapped an attorney, an organizer and an Arizona State University assistant professor to be on the Community Advisory Board.

Officials say the board will work with a federal court-appointed monitor and make recommendations about policies and procedures in Arpaio's office.

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow ruled last year that Arpaio's office systematically singled out Latinos in its traffic enforcement and special immigration patrols.

Attorney Lisa Duran, Angeles Maldonado and Professor Carlos Santos will meet three times a year for as long as a court order remains in effect.

The first meeting is scheduled for this summer.
