Tribune Election 2004 Special Section
Incumbent Republicans are virtually assured a clean sweep in their bids for reelection for the District 22 House and Senate seats.
Reps. Andy Biggs and Eddie Farnsworth, both RGilbert, are competing against Libertarian Wade Reynolds of Gilbert for the two House seats in the district, which includes Gilbert, Apache Junction and far east Mesa.
Sen. Thayer Verschoor, R-Gilbert, is unopposed in his Senate re-election bid. All of the candidates running in the district are privately financed.
Farnsworth, currently House majority leader, was elected to the House in 2000.
Biggs, a retired attorney, is finishing his first term in the House. Both are part of the conservative bloc of lawmakers who have been among the most vocal critics of Democratic Gov. Janet Napolitano.
Reynolds has run a stealth campaign.
His campaign does not have a Web site and he did not list contact information
either with the secretary of state or the Citizens Clean Election Commission.
