Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s lawyers face a March 28 deadline for asking an appeals court to reconsider its ruling that criticizes the sheriff’s practice of making jail inmates wear pink underwear.

The sheriff has said he plans to ask for a larger panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider last week’s ruling.

The court ruled that strip searches and other steps may be necessary for jail security, but questioned the justification for dressing one particular inmate in the pink undergarment.

The court threw out a 2010 jury verdict in favor of Arpaio’s office and ordered a new trial in a lawsuit brought by the estate of a mentally ill man who erroneously viewed jail officers’ efforts to forcibly clothe him as a rape attempt.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Jokes did what? The court threw out a 2010 jury verdict in favor of Arpaio’s office and ordered a new trial in a lawsuit brought by the estate of a mentally ill man who erroneously viewed jail officers’ efforts to forcibly clothe him as a rape attempt? Are these people insane? lol How can any sane person take the 9th seriously when they throw this nonsense around?
