Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio says he’s shocked by comedian George Lopez’s profanity-laced tirade against him.

Lopez made the comments about the top cop of Maricopa County during the debut of his solo stand-up special, “George: It’s Not Me, It’s You,” which aired Saturday on HBO.

Arpaio says he had been watching the show but changed the channel before Lopez directed curse words at him. The sheriff known for his tough stance on illegal immigration says he was shocked that the comments weren’t part of a joke.

Ina Treciokas, a publicist for Lopez, says the comedian would have no further comment.

The sheriff is the target of several lawsuits, including one going to trial Thursday that accuses his department of racially profiling Latinos.

Lopez is against Arpaio because he wants mexicans to be able to cross into America without any friciton. An illegal just murdered a woman and people like this still want to have their illegal brethren run free in the US. A true disgrace.

What amazes me is how George Lopez (and Hispanics generally) don't denounce La Raza as racist. The name of the group literally translates "The Race." It advocates for the interests of "The Race," which includes protecting illegal aliens. But, when anyone opposes illegal immigration, they're called racists because it goes without saying that it's a particular race entering illegally by a factor of 1000::1.

I don't understand this double standard for "racism." If Hispanics spoke out against illegal immigration and groups which are obviously racist (La Raza), I could understand it. Otherwise, it sounds like "I want everyone to be sensitive to my race, otherwise they're racist."

To me this is as much a race issue as immigration is *by necessity*. We establish annual immigration quotas *by nationality* in order to promote a balanced "melting pot" of cultures, races, etc. When Mexicans cut to the head of the line, give birth to US citizens, etc., it perverts the purposeful mix of races, cultures, etc.

Literally, I'm speaking in racist terms. And yet, I'm simply describing the goals of our immigration system, and how illegal immigration by one nationality perverts those goals.

Why is it that those who seek to pervert our immigration goals (a balanced mix of races, cultures, etc.) aren't racist? But, when we talk about the effect of that perversion, we are? And we don't even have a special interest group named "The Race!"

I used to enjoy Lopez and his act.

He's become a hate spewing racist clod.

    What a shame.

I'm keeping track of liberal/progressive entertainers and their support of big government socialism. I will spend my entertainment dollars elsewhere.

Shocking, you know what's shocking: 1. Sheriff Joe's budget; 2. The time Sheriff Joe can spend on "non-Maricopa county" tasks (e.g. birther); 3. The following Sheriff Joe has among the electorate; 4. The attitude the Sheriff demonstrates regarding legal proceedings; and 5. The Sheriff's lack of concern over non-immigrant issues facing his office.

shocking? joe over dramatization dose not fit you at all but then I saw it before when you and andy were trying to justify your persecution of those politicians that opposed you a couple of years ago. I guess it works with the elderly vote though.

Lopez is a comedian. Typically in his profession nothing and no one is off limits.
Have to defend Lopez though I haven't heard his piece because, as Joe would say, he's just doing his job!

If Joe is upset it is likely because he lacks the means to send his goons after Lopez.

Joe, if you can't take the heat - RETIRE!

    eberdiet,
You must be too stupid to figure out I made whats called a 'typo'. I meant to write 'friction', not friciton. Do you need me to explain what that means for your dumb a ss?

I was the second poster. I assume you're referring to me as one of the four "righties." For the record, I'm registered Democrat. I just don't like *illegal* immigration, nor the attractive nuisance we create by granting citizenship by mere presence on our soil rather than the parents' citizenship (or their legal presence).

I especially dislike selective usage of the "racism" label. Especially by those who tolerate their own race-based special interest group named "La Raza" (translated: the race).

I use to watch George's show late night, but noticed it was becoming increasingly political in nature, and clearly not what I condone, Ergo, I found something BETTER to watch....
