FLAGSTAFF — Skiers and snowboarders anxious to hit the slopes in northern Arizona won't have to wait too much longer.
The Arizona Snowbowl is opening Thursday, thanks to a series of winter storms that dumped loads of snow at the resort north of Flagstaff.
Sales and marketing director Dave Smith says the resort has a 24-inch snow base at 9,500 feet and 37 inches at higher elevations. He says all lifts will be running at 9 a.m.
The Arizona Snowbowl typically opens in mid-December and logs more than 100 days of skiing and other winter sports in an average season.
