TUCSON - Pima County sheriff's deputies served warrants, arrested a half-dozen people and seized some 150 dogs in all Tuesday in capping a yearlong investigation into a major operation breeding animals for dog fighting.

Officials with the Humane Society of the United States took part in the raids. Among the seizures, 110 dogs were taken from a rural-area home in the Picture Rocks area northwest of Tucson and about two dozen more dogs from one property in a mobile home neighborhood west of the Tucson Mountains, authorities said.

Nearly all the animals seized were pit bulls, a Humane Society official said.
